nordlicht / light from the north

1/14

Using the medium of drawing, the project nordlicht / light from the north examines the progress of shadows as a temporal-spatial phenomenon.

I follow the outlines of objects' shadows continually for a period of time lasting up to 24 hours. The shadow form changes according to the position of the sun. The drawn contours of these forms become superimposed; a web of dense lines and empty spaces evolves.

This web displays a rhythm that results from the superimposition of movements: the movements of the earth and the movement of my hand as it is drawing.
